Description: Pentax LX was introduced as the finest quality Pentax in year 1980. It was named LX (the Roman numeral for 60) in commemoration of Asahi Optical's 60th anniversary.

The 35mm professional camera attracted a great deal of attention for its interchangeable viewfinder, weather-resistance, direct metering automatic exposure control, and titanium horizontal-run shutter.

It featured rugged construction and special seals against dust and moisture. It also has aperture-priority automatic, manual and TTL flash, and incorporates an integrated light metering cell measuring directly off the film plane.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Metering
Cons: "Sticky Mirror" but can be fixed quite easily

Still using mine even though I have a Pentax DSLR.

Nothing need be added from the photographer's inner consciousness to make it more beautiful. His work is there, behind the camera. Any error there can never be atoned for, and no amount of printing control can make it come out right.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Wonderful meter, good for pix by moonlight or starlight. Flash metering off the film. Mirror lockup, interchangeable screens, finders. A true system camera.
Cons: The sticky mirror syndrome. No exposure lock! What were they thinking! Touchy shutter release with winder.

I have the LX and its winder, the pentaprism finder and the action finder. This camera is a joy to use; the AE yields consistent exposures, and with mirror lockup and exposure off the film it is ideal for macro work, since changing light is no concern. It is sad that Pentax did not develop it further to compete with Nikon beyond the F3. The LX has that wonderful feeling of rightness in the hand.
