Well...after nine months of inactivity, I'm going to try to restart this game as it's been too quiet on the site. For those of you who have played this, no explanation is needed, just jump in. But for those who haven't the point of this is for one person (the code maker) to post an image clue that the other players (code breakers) try to guess by asking questions, what the image is. The person who guesses what the image is, becomes the next code maker. When the image is guessed the code maker reveals the full image to all.
So...let's play. I'll restart it with this image.

Reply - not a dirty sensor nor wing strut from a plane. But I will freely admit that the sensor was dirty when I took this picture and that has nothing to do with what the image really is.
Edit: Ah, I finally found where you located the number of views for this thread. I believe that this thread is the longest running thread on this forum even though it's been quiet for a while it's the big one..

it's a nanotube, pacerr. bcb uses it for his weather-forcasting somehow.

Pacerr - I promise to be honest (fingers crossed behind back, not!)
David - it's not a nanotube.
I can see you need a hint. So here is one. It does have a wing but it doesen't fly.

That is a very good guess and you are warm but that's not quite it.
