My cousin's wedding last week, so I thought I'd bring along the K20D and the Jupiter 9 85mm f2 for lens duties and see what unofficial wedding pics I could get.

Nice not to have the pressure of being the hired main photographer. It can be tough to work in low light situations without a flash. The white balance looks good in the first 2 shots but appears a little warm in the last three. Am I right in assuming that the lighting means changed from natural outdoor to indoor incandescent? How did you find the focal length of 85mm for this type of shooting. I have not had the opportunity to shoot many weddings and feel that this is the knowledge that a person might do well to collect when possible - just in case.

Thanks for sharing.

You're spot on regarding the changing lighting, slackard me should have done the appropriate white balance changes but shall we say it slipped my mind, old fartz disease. The 85mm focal length worked surprisingly well, more luck then anything else as where I was seated for the reception was about perfect although a zoom would have offered more opportunities. I'd also brought along a Tair 135mm, a Helios 44M and a Mir 37mm lens which I opted not to use.
Considering this is the second wedding I've attended this millenium I thought I'd have to take the camera just to say I've taken wedding pics and was more done for fun then anything else.

Tim picked up the comment I was going to make on the white balance. I wanted to add that I've shot several friends wedding this year as an amateur (I have no aspirations to do it any other way) and find that my Vivitar Series 1 85mm f1.4 is my favorite lens for this work.
