Hi

Since Tuesday I am attending the Montreux Volley Masters as accredited photographer.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I took only the Nikon D3s, but yesterday, I also wanted to check how the K-5 with DA*200 is performing.

Well, when I am close to the net, I do have to anticipate a lot with the K-5 in order to get a chance to capture the action, but when located at the end of the field, I prefocus on the net and the AF-C is fast enough to get the action on the net.

Here a few photos:

China - Peru

Thank you Bruce.

I returned yesterday to see world class level of volleyball, especially the games Japan - Cuba and USA - China were at a very high level. I finally had to put the camera away to see the whole game with the eyes rather than through the viewfinder.

For the Pentax camera, I only took the DA15 yesterday:

Netherlands - Italy:
6
1/80s f/8.0 at 15.0mm iso1600

7
Japan - Cuba
1/250s f/8.0 at 15.0mm iso5000

These last two are interesting as they are views that a person attending would be seeing versus your earlier shots that are closeups of the action (very good of course). Anyway, I like these almost as much because you can see everything in context. Very nice.

Thank you Blackcloudbrew.

Wow, there were some very high level volleyball games during this event. Yesterday were the semi-finals, today, Japan and Cuba will play for the 1st place while the USA and China will play for the 3rd place.

The photos so far are under http://www.pbase.com/tcom/volleymasters2011, but I took yesterday only the D3s.

Superb captures Dominique  Cool

My granddaughter was just in Pittsburgh for a weekend tournament with the all-star team she plays for. I have been trying to capture some shots when she plays locally but the K20D just isn't good enough at high iso.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Mike. Yes, the K-5 is a great advance in regards of high iso noise compared to the K20D.

Well, the event ended today with the finals, fast paced and world class volleyball was showed to the public today. I took only the D3s, the photos of the whole event are under http://www.pbase.com/tcom/volleymasters2011

The final ranking is:

6th Germany
7th Italy
8th Peru
