Sports Aircraft Association of Australia had a 'fly in' at Langley Park, Perth last weekend.  There's a fair few obstacles to avoid on take off and landing... Langley park was an airstrip in the 1920s, but the buildings were also lower back then.
Anyway, I took the K10 with 18-55+CP and K7 with 55-300.  I don't usually carry two cameras, but it was useful in this case because there were both planes on the ground you could walk up and inspect and also those buzzing around in the air - so I needed wide and tele at the same time.

Excellent series guy! I typically try to carry two cameras for those kind of reasons. I'm liking the last one in particular as it's not the usual viewing angle for this bird. Got any more?

Thanks Mike and Earl.
I did 'in fact' take a few more of the Spitfire - it's probably the most loved plane of the era.  There's also a few other planes of the same vintage flying over.  Unfortunately, I arrived kind of late, due to other commitments, so I only saw these fly overhead and didn't see them on the ground.
The shot where I'm standing behind the Spitfire was exciting to take - I had enough lawn clippings blasted on me to make a salad.

Great to see Cal - we have the Canadian Warplane Heritage about 5 miles a way at the Hamilton Airport and regularly see the Lancaster and B25 Mitchell bombers flying over the house  Cool

Beautiful airplane shots, Calsan.
Can anyone help me find the newly rebuilt Pentax Photo Gallery.  I can't even find my link or a login page.  Freddy

Hey Calsan,

Nice series. I like the ones with prop blur, indicating motion and speed, best. I always do a double take when I see a plane in the sky with its prop frozen.   Undecided

Hi Freddy
Is this what you're after?
http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/
If you look right down the bottom left corner in nearly invisible grey text there is a button for ARTIST LOGIN that takes you here:

Hi Spy
I totally forgot about propeller blur actually...  The planes were so close that these photos aren't cropped at all - therefore I was more concerned about keeping up the shutter speed to compensate for my panning.  I find planes are much easier than real birds, however.  With such a big target, the autofocus just zipped right onto them each time - I just had to click.

If you keep your shutter speed to 1/350th or less you should get sufficient propeller blur.

Earl..... what shutter setting did you use for your avatar image. I can not see the propeller on your hat at all ?!?  Shocked

No wait.... my bad, you cropped the top of your hat off.  You probably would need a very wide angle lens or a lot of room to get the whole hat in. Roll Eyes

Cal, I went back and took a closer look at these shots.
This is a super photographic record of really classic, fascinating aircraft.  Thanks for showing such great detail.
