PentaxWorld October 2012 Photo Contest
February 2013 Theme
"Anything but eye-level"

Smiley A challenge of composition and PoV rather than image quality and artistic merit. Smiley
This month's theme was selected by our recent contest winner, Pacerr. He describes it this way. "On your knees. Stand on the dinner table. Hang from the chandelier.  Shoot from the top of the stairs. Belly to the ground. Shoot from the point-of-view of your cat/dog/toddler. ANYTHING but those boring eye-level shots you've been making.

The fine print: let's say at least 2 feet/30 cm arms reach above or below waist-level for what would be "normal eye-level" for the shot."

Once again, you can submit up to 3 images for this contest.

Entry Date:
Now until 6am (PST), March 9th Smiley

Voting Date:
Early March.

Guidelines:
1. Photo Size: 850 pixels on the max width/height. Ask for help on resizing if you have difficulty getting the image to conform to contest specifications. It creates a level playing field for all competitors and helps with the presentation and managing of the voting page.
2. File Size: Not more than 800KB.
3. Submit using the ATTACHMENT feature in this thread. Post a reply to this thread with your entry.
4. You may submit up to three photos on this theme. (Note: photos must be taken using a Pentax (Samsung or Ricoh are OK too) camera).
5. Submitted photo(s) must NOT have been entered in any previous contest of PENTAXWORLD before. Photos can have entered other competitions except PENTAXWORLD. We do not want duplicated entries in PENTAXWORLD photo competitions.
6. Image can be captured by a Pentax film camera, and image scanned - same size rules apply.
7. Optional - submit a title for your image, if you wish.
8. Have fun!

Please note that all submitted photos (attachment) will not be visible to members including the original poster. This is to help let the image stand on its own and provide a fair voting later.

FAQ:
Please click on the link below for questions and answers. This thread is ONLY for Entries of the Competition.

Prize
1. Winning photo(s) with the highest vote later will be showcase on the front page of PentaxWorld and on a sticky thread. Cheesy
2. Winner will have in their member's profile as a recognition, and have their names listed at Contest Winners page.  Cool
3. Winner will have their rating increase by +1.
4. Winner will enjoy supreme bragging rights, a round of congratulations, and a smile that lasts all month. Smiley Smiley Smiley

Or, if you just MUST shoot from that boring ol' eye level position, how about shooting at unusual vertical angles like almost straight up or down . . . or find an unusually interesting vertical angle on a common subject.

TIP: Gardener's knee pads make it a LOT easier to "get down an' boogie" in the weeds. And ya get extra points if the seat of your pants gets wet while shootin' too.  Grin

Don't just TAKE these shots -- let's MAKE these shots. New ones. Anybody that's diggin' in their archives for these is just lazy - an' probably steals sheep on the side too.  Cheesy

Now come on, all you guys that have just been lookin' -- here's your chance. Submit some shots.

If you need help formatting or submitting photos just send a private message to BCB or myself and tell us what post processing program you're using.

I often try to get low for wildlife and magazine illustrations. Makes everyting more dramatic.

Yeah, well, I guess I could get a new, sequined Speed-O an' find a fresh 'tater . . . but I gotta tell ya, I wouldn't be caught dead in that hat, Dave!  Angry
