Manual focus screen for K-5
«

Using the Leitax adapter I just converted my old Olympus 400 f6.3 to a K-5 mount. Exposure and everything works fine. My problem is focusing.
I would be interested in experiences using other focus screens with the K-5 that maintain correct exposure and auto focus function but permit better manual focus. I did see one advertised a KatzEye and I also came across this web page for K-5 and K-7 focus screens.
I would appreciate any advice and feedback.
With the Leitax adapter the lens is equivalent to about a 612 f6.3.
Thanks

The KatzEye is probably the best. I put one in my K20D and have regretted it. Screwed up metering on spot focus.

Just want to make sure I understand. While the Katz Eye is the best you regretted using it since it messed up spot focus.
Thanks for your reply.
I guess I just have to get better with the default screen

i don't know if this helps or not, but i have tried the eyepiece magnifier that pentax sells, and used it for a while on the k-5, but ended up going back to using the regular viewfinder, seems to work just as well for manual focusing as the magnifier, and everything is easier to see, the magnifier restricts the view a bit, have not tried one of the katz-eye or equivalent, thought about it, because it would be nice to have a split screen viewfinder as on the older slr cameras, the regular viewfinder works after one gets used to it i think. just some thoughts.
