Ok, I'll start the rumor mill here. Apparently this may be announced in February.

The name is K-01, although that may not be it's final name.

The design of the hands of designers talby au. Rather than the K series, the Optio atmosphere rather reminiscent, like the heavy duty no Ricoh GXR.

I'm thinking so. The unique feature that makes this more attractive is that it's supposed to be a K-mount camera. That would be very cool if true.

I'm in a wait and see mode on this. These cameras are the next 'thing' and bare watching because down the road, these have the very real potential supplant P&S as well as some DSLRs in the marketplace.

Fuji is introducing a "professional-quality" compact soon, but I can't find out what sensor. Costs as much as a full DSLR, so....
I have some interest in this, but it would have to be pretty good to fill the minor void I have between the cameras I carry in my backpack and the waterproof cameras I carry in my pocket. But if a mirrorless camera accepted my Limited lenses, and had a K5 sensor, I could be very tempted.

Well when your waiting for something time go by so slow. I will buy just because it is Pentax and I think it will have alot of the K5 in it because the most part of R/D is done, saves money. Come on Pentax let's see it quickly!?.

Suppsed to be more expensive than Kr. Too much more and it will be in rebate K5 price range. Mirrorless does have some advantages. I will be very tempted if the lcd swivels. Would dearly love that for macro. Might wait to see what the K5 replacement brings. Very interested to see if it is the same body or a different one.
thanks

No swivel screen on new mirrorless camera - drats.  It will be out of the ordinary looking. Hmm.

No internal evf wasn't what I was hoping for. It is almost as big as Kr, and an optional ( which hasn't been seen by anyone yet) evf has to be fitted on top of the hot shoe, this is going to be a large mirrorless camera. Like that it is using K5 sensor and battery.  Don't know that I wouldn't personally buy the K5 instead.

Rumor updates from my source 1001noisycameras.com:

'The rumor-tweets, translated in English by/via Catetoblog, say the Pentax K-mirrorless will use the classic K-mount, it will not have an optical viewfinder, and it will be slightly smaller than the K-r. On the negative side, the tweets hint of ...ugliness! In a newer tweet, he "mentioned/speculated/rumorized "probably the same flange distance" (as K-mount DSLRs)'

This is a made up image of what it 'could' possibly look like.

interesting ,  but...  too bad no integral viewfinder.      how about any new lenses coming out,  bcb ?     as in a da 30 ?   or  28 ?     or  maybe a 24- 105mm would be cool ?

Well as far as I'm concerned they should have left the hump on it and had a evf or ovf or both making it switchable and the 921k oled touch screen witch can be shut off if you like. And make sure that the PK lens is left so I can use my 30 plus lenses on it.
Well Just keep the K5 body and make us all happy, no need to use a smaller battery!!!.
If it is to ugly and alot less features then my K5 and the price is to high I will pass on it. Angry Grin

well it does use our K mount lenses. It has a great sensor. I was looking for that 1 extra feature or capability that I don't have now ( don't own the K5). So far not sure this is going to provide it.

Have the external evf for my Olympus Pen and at times it is a must have. Other times the implementation is frustating. It really needs someone to streamline the operation.
thanks

May is an awful long time to wait for the Kr update - awful long time.
