I am looking to soon purchase the K-x in the White body.  Think it looks great! !  Concerns are getting dirty or grimey, or smudging.  Any expience with this.  If so, ok to clean with a mild solvent, like denatured alchol?

I generally soak mine in gasoline for a day or two (always keep a pail under the kitchen sink). Then it is straight into the dishwasher with the mirror lock up for 2 cycles.  Roll Eyes

Ok..... please let me hear the drum roll and crash cymbol  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked  You are having us on right?   Undecided

Please check your user manual for directions and cleaning options.

Spyglass,
You obviously didn't read my wording in you lame (inept) attempt at "humor".  I clearly stated, "I am looking to soon purchase", which clearly implies that I do not currently own.  If I don't own the product, I clearly have no possession of a user manuel.

I asked, for obvious reasons I thought, prior to purchase to help form a decision on weather or not to go with a white body.

Rest assured, Spyglass, if I purchase the K-x white, or any other product or color I will be sure to refer to the user manuel.  Again, that is once I actually own the product.

mtneye,

Here is the K-x manual.  I was able to handle a white K-x the other day at my local shop.  You are right.  It does look great.  However, I would not choose this color if I were worried about dirt or grime getting on my camera.  I don't think alcohol of any kind would be good for the body of any dslr.  Especialy the LCD screen.

Good luck with your purchase of the K-x.  Please share your thoughts, and post a few photos when you get it.  The high iso samples from this camera look good.

Spyglass must have understood your original post.  I think his reply was an attempt at good, CLEAN fun.  Something he thought you could admire.  No reason to lash out at him.  I was interested in his procedure until the dishwasher with MLU step.  He obviously had been performing the first step in a poorly ventilated area to suggest step two. Cheesy

[sounds of heavy breathing] We don't think it's funny that the official camera of the Emperor's Storm Troopers is being malined in this way. We find your lack of faith [sounds of luke(spyglass) gasping for breath] not amusing. The [K-X] force will be with you soon enough and you will soon become Darth Mtneye...[more sounds of heavy breating and Star Wars music]

Mtneye,

First let me appolpgise if I offended you. It was not my intention to throw sand or play rough in the sand box. I thought that the best way to answer this question would be with a little humour. (I would never keep gasoline under the sink...... it is kept in the basement beside the furnace & hot water tank). I wanted to suggest, for the sake of any other readers, that they should always referr to the manual for cleaning questions. Manuals are available on line for most products. I always search out and read manuals prior to making a new purchase.

I did read that you where considering purchaing the camera and did not own it yet.
As this was your first post, I half considered that it could be spam. The prospect of cleaning any platic or rubber product with a solvent is as harsh and dangerous as killing a mosquitoe with a hand grenade (sure you kill the insect...... but what else).

Once again sorry if my reply upset you. If your question was genuine I can see that my replay would have been received as cheeky.

Spyglass (this cheeky monkey will go stand in the corner until he learns how to play nice).

Spyglass,

No need to aplogize to me.  Should be the other way around.  (Read my reply to Craig-2 up from your post).

My wife gets on to me about my sarcasm.  No, really.  I know, I know...hard to believe.  But true.

You sir, are a prince.

Best,

Thats the spirit mtneye !

I am envious that Tim (Blackcloudbrew) gave you the cool name Darth Mtneye. (love his post). I can tell already that we will be good friends on this forum.   Cool  (be leery of Craig..... "he sees dead people")  Grin

So..... are you going to buy that camera ?  Does it come with white kits lenses (18-55 or 50-200)? It would also look cool with black lenses mounted on the front of it. I read an article that they are exploring many different colour options in Japan. I would love an all chrome model or gold plated model (maybe even a checkerplate Mad Max special issue built for extreme conditions).

Talk to you later,

Spyglass (just now released from the corner on the promise to share his raisons with the class)  Sad

Spyglass,

I won't even ask about the reference to Craig seeing dead people.  We'll just let that one slide on by.

I love the white body.  Like you, I think the black lenses would look great on it.  However, looking online (since there is no place in Atlanta that I've found to view the camera in person), the black body appears to have a more durable finish.

So, I think I may get the black.  Prices are better since supply seems higher in black.  I LOVE the yellow body they have in Japan, as well.

I'm going to order the K-x in the next week or 2.  Wanna wait for the Turkey Day Sales! !  This with a slow economy should be to the buyers advantage.

Thanks for sharing the raisins! !

Best,

Darth Mtneye
