Anybody here waiting for the Pentax 645D digital medium format SLR?  Cool

Just saw the announcement of Hasselblad H3D 31MP digital SLR at a price tag of US$24,995. When coming to Digital Medium Format, the price increment is so much jump from 135 format.

How much do you think Pentax 645D will be priced at? Anybody here ready to jump to that once available?

Well, I am looking forward to one day being able to get one of these second hand.
The thing about a Hassy even though there is a Russian copy is the name. The price it way too much. But you do get increadible support and also you can upgrade the cameras. Also the name adds 10 thou.
I would bet the Pentax does not cost anywhere near that much. I would guess 9-12 thousand. Maybee even less

I am already collecting the lenses already.  Gio645 is reknown for selling everything 135mm SLR lenses and buying a lot of 645 Fa lenses.

The word from Benjikan is that the camera might be released around August this year.  Pricing from 5000 US to 8000 US dollars for the body.

That seems reasonable for me, Pentax will be definitely cheaper than the Hasselblad.

Hi,

My take on this is if Pentax can produce the 645D, they have essentially carve out a niche market for themselves, positioning something between the super expensive Hassy and the lower Canon 1Ds series.

645 has a strong following, it remains to be seen on how they are going to support the existing users. Will be very interesting...

All in all, Pentax is just telling the world that they are very serious in digital photography, great news for us! Let Canon and Nikon have a run for their money.
