Hi everyone,
When I start my k-10 after a few days not using it, the first shot is kind of monochrome violet, after that the rest
are absolutely ok.
It happened also the very first time I shot with the camera, and then all the shots wero perfect as well, nicely balanced in colour, contrast and brightness.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
Must it be due to the camera or to the card? At the moment I'm using an 1 Gb card, but is more than enough for the quantity of pictures I have taken so far...

Any ideas about what this issue might be all about?
Thanks in advance for your help

go to service. In Italy another user had almost the same issue and it was a wrong set-up of the machine. 2 days and it was returned as new:)

I've also read about a strange dominance when outer temperature is below 0°C... same as before, go to service and get repaired in few days

Emanel,

Can you duplicate or repeat the problem? If not, then it might be difficult for the technician to troubleshoot...and they might not do anything and just tell you your camera is fine after you send in.

Your case does sound like a sensor problem...  Undecided

Khoking,
I guess I can do it provided I leave the camera several hours off, however it's not 100% sure , it might be the tipical case I go there and nothing happens. But in the last three test I've done the camera does it when I turn it off after a number of hours , say seven or eight.
I've also stated my problem  at dpreview's forum  (see http://forums.dpreview.co...1036&message=21878498 ) and I can see that some people is experiencing this problem with low temperatures wich is not my case. I'm really concerned since I made a huge economical effort to buy my K10, after month looking forward to it, but I am afraid too that if I take it to be serviced they might bring it back as it was

Try if you can a fast SD card first, make sure your battery is fully charged ovenight.  This is about all you can do to trouble shoot this problem.  My camera certainly does not do this, and works flawlessly at the first millisecond I switch it on.  If that does nothing, then if I were you I'd get the camera serviced.  That's why it has a warranty afterall.  It is a good camera, but any camera, even the $3000 pro ones need a warranty for a reason, they're not always perfect out of the box.  Sorry that you have to deal with such an issue, it is always disappointing and gives a bad first impression.

Thanks so much for your support, I was about to have my camera serviced under warranty when last minute the head of the photo-digital department in the shop in inspecting my samples decided to change me the camera body for another one and this one does work faultless. Indeed it was a very bad impression at first, because you decide to give Pentax a chance in spite of the anti-Pentax propaganda on certain websites, so I was afraid of having taken the wrong decission in the end. But not, I'm extremely happy with it now. It's great camera and it's incredible how it feels in your hands. It makes look like toys other models from the competence.
