I didn't want to comment at PentaxForums, as I'd be totally flamed of the site, but to be objective:
The K5 is one year newer than the 7D, so it's not completely a fair comparison, given the rate of technological change.

It seemed the 7D was better for fast action or where your require more pixels, but the Pentax was a better all rounder.
So horses for courses, as always.

Cal - good points. I had a few questions about the objectivity of a comparison between those cameras from a brand centric forum. To me it was a restatement of what I already knew and there were no surprises.

So True. There are a few that believe those that do not choose Pentax should be tarred and feathered. I think most brands do a excellent job and like any other hobby and work, the greatness shows up from the work put in not the equipment used. Seen many poor images with Nikon, Pentax, Sony anhd even... I know, hang on to your shorts, Pentax! In closing I want to say only one thing, GO CANUCKS GO
