With K20D so cheap nowadays (around US$650), is it still worth getting or one should spend double the money and get the K7?

Yes!  The K20D is probably the best buy for the money in the DSLR market at that price.

Yup, indeed, I bought my K20D about a week after the K7's release (an upgrader was selling his old kit), got the body, the grip and 4 batteries for £520, which was about the price a new K20D body was fetching at the time. Very happy with it and really enjoying the photography! (The grip really does make a difference, I have fewer crooked portrait photos to fix now).

If you budgeted for a K7, the change from going for a K20D instead would put you substantially towards a very nice lens.

I had heard about the rumours of the K7 coming but the K20D was going for a good price i could not resist, so I got mine on the 25th of March 2009 and am still trying to master it.  It is a vast improvement from my K10D and I am glad I stuck to Pentax for my DSLR as I still have my Pentax film SLRs.

Bonsoir,

Yes, I think so Smiley .

The K20D is fully tested and user reviewed. So you know what you're going to buy. No suprises!

Also, you can use the money you save on the body to buy more or better lenses  Wink .

So, Kho King did you get the k20d? Your post is from a month ago. What did you decide? btw, I think the k20d is without a doubt the best bang for the buck at the moment.

I've had a K100D for 2 years, and was getting ready to upgrade to a K20D, when, BAM !!,  it was discontinued....

Not really interested in the video capability of the K7... Does anyone have any info about a K20D replacement soon??

Thx !!

Jeff, there are still plenty of K20D's to be found. Is a K20D worth the going rate? Absolutely, positively! It is one of the finest cameras you can own if you don't need video and all the other features of the K7, nice as they are.
Tested and proven highly reliable. I haven't kept any records, but I frequent many Forums and lurk (I am addicted to viewing the photos of others, any brand) and in the past year and a half I haven't seen any other camera of any brand with fewer complaints. It is just an exceptional workhorse, with excellent IQ.

I do have 2 units of K20D with me now, if no customer buying it...then I will keep one myself and have another unit as stock. Tongue

K20D is a very nicely built camera, but with FA lens (FA 31mm), the focusing sound is amazing loud! Cheesy
