Ok, for the past 10 months I have posted here letting everyone know I was looking at new equipment. I have now purchased a D700, along with the 24-70 and 70-200 lenses. I will be keeping all my Pentax lenses and K20 for now and post some comparison images along with my thoughts on the two systems. Too new to go into any detail. I have made some unbelievable friends on this site and some I will continue to shot with. Thank you for all your support and I look forward to continue my hobby, hopefully here and contine to improve on my hobby. Cheers JIM

We'll be calling full frame Jim soon for sure. Congratulations on this enhancement to your equipment. Of course we want to see pictures. This has to be an exciting moment for ya.

First couple Tim. Been working all week and have not taken for a good drive yet. This weekend I will be using and send images over. So far it is one beautiful piece of equipment. JIM

Without even trying to argue the relative merits of sensors brands etc., as I'm sure you will agree, the skill of the person using the camera counts many times more than the quality of the camera itself. However, I know what having new equipment can do to ignite creativity, and in your very capable hands look out world!

It is a ways down the road for me but some day I hope to own a 645D. For me that will be, I think, the same kind of step up as you are taking. My work with my old film 645 MF camera is slowly converting me to the slowed down wonders of medium format.

Like Dominique's comparisons, I look forward to your opinions, because of the skill and understanding of photography you possess. Of course, in the same frame, you will be comparing FF to DSLR, and equipment varying widely in costs. It isn't exactly fair, but interesting.
When you find a way to get a 645D, I'll be most interested in how it preforms in comparision to your FF as well. That's your next step, whether you realize it now or not.

Ronny, give me a few weeks to give the D700 a good run and I will let you all knowe my thoughts. I casn tell you the Nikon 70-200 2.8 is one hell of as lens. This were all shot with this lens. As fasr as the 645, yes I would love one and who knows!! I may even try LF down the road. Cheers JIM

Tim, I would totally agree that the camera is a smaller part of a successful inage though I now believe the lnese play a much bigger role then I first thought or at least on certain images. You also do know I still love my K20 and 12-24 combination and I have found the two to be excellent together. Two pieces that will not be sold any time soon. I am also so into my early stages of this hobby, as I have statred many times and for mt now its lighting and framing I find key to a success shot. I have some out with friends who also call this a hobby and they still see wasy more then I do as there are more diamonds in the rough out there then we all see. Ther success is when you combine alll three elements well. [Framing, Lighting and last the equipment] Cheers JIM

Too funny Mike but so true. The eggs are hatching so they are out feeding a lot. JIM

Congratulations Jim on your new acquisitions.

Sorry for not having commented earlier, at the moment, I am killing time at the airport of Frankfurt waiting on the last flight of this trip to Borneo, the flight from Frankfurt to Geneva. More about this trip in Sabah later on another topic, once the photos are sorted.
