Great post.  Thanks for the information.  You're going to make me get out my wallet with observations like that.  I look forward to your pictures.

Again, thanks.

I forgot to mention that the guys from pentax told me that the price in Greece will be around €800 for the 16-50 and €900 for the 50-135. The lenses will be available somewhere between May 15th and June 15th.

Thank you very much for that information, Christos.

Seems really very interesting lenses, especially for AF speed (and silence of it). Looking forward to your photos.

I've heard that availability for Japan and/or US market will be April(ish).  Something like March is when they start actual production and a month to make enough so they can begin shipping.

But then again, I heard that same story for the K10D and they were a few weeks late in finally getting them out.

Ok here is a sample photo from DS with 50-135 at 135/2.8. I know you will not be able to make your own conclusions out of it but at least that photo proves in a way that the lens actually works Smiley

Even that the 50-135 was a working sample, mind that is not the final version of the lens...
You can still view the exif info...

And some photos with other lenses they let me try:

The exhibition:

At the Pentax stand they were serving antipasti!?!  Huh

The staff was not as busy as in c***n.... Pentax is not that popular in Greece  Angry yet anyway…

After a while something got my attention  Cheesy

And I dedicated the rest of my time there on her  >D

I hope I am not offending anyone here...  Shocked

The antipasti image is sharp.  What lens?

I like the composition of the first semi-nude.  The way her head is pointing down, her stance, body paint, and the painter at her feet, all work well.

They don't do exhibits like that where I live!  Bummer.   Oo)

Yap, there where quite a few models there with wedding dresses and stuff that were posing with good grace for everyone but I was too tired to keep shooting all of them Sad
All photos are with pentax lenses they let me try except the last two which are with my 77/1.8 Ltd. Unfortunately they couldn't let me get a lens and go for a walk in the exhibition shooting models... The antipasti are with DFA 100/2.8 macro. The two fished ones are obviously with 10-17 (I must say shooting with that lens is even more difficult than shooting with macro since at 10mm you have to mind not to include your elbows or your feet in the picture). I also have one with 70/2.4 Ltd which I will also post here if you like so (nothing special though)... Unfortunately, most of the photos I shot with 50-135 and Ds are quite blurry since my hands are not the steadiest ones and there was quite dim light. I have one that I shot with K10 but i don't have the software to convert it to jpg. If you have any tips on how can I convert that I shall also post it...

Ok here is a sample with K10D. I tried to find something close to me and check the bokeh. I could not get K10D away from the stand...I don't know why but K10D couldn't keep any exif info...

The samples look good. The bokeh seems quite smooth. I will wait for full resolution photos to evaluate the capabilities of this lens.

Thank you for sharing.

Tokina has released sample photos taken by 16-50/2.8, and 50-135/2.8.  Coming DA*'s optics are identical, so these pictures might be helpful for your decision ?

http://www.tokina.co.jp/d_slr/

Just click each pictures, then you will see the link of original files.
