Firmware update for the Pentax Q v.1.01

 Cool. Thanks for posting. There are also firmware updates for the 01 & 02 premium lenses. Think this is a first for Pentax. Don't remember any K mount lens with updates.

 Ricoh owners told me the company pursues fimware updates like crazy. Looks like we are starting off that way. Good!

I saw that about the firmware updates for lenses. I'm not sure what you do with those but you likely know. I also noted this for my daughter's Lumix GF-2 lenses. Is that some sort of m4/3rds deal? Anyway, it would be good for you to write up anything on these updates for the members.

 Olmpus & Panasonic have always had  fw updates for lenses, flashes, and accessories. Started with 4/3 and branched out to m4/3. My Olympus extension tube had an update once! There is actually a chip in the extension tube. As far as I know they never fixed a flaw in their system. You can't use two   
lens mount accessories at a time. No teleconverter and extension tube at the same time. At one time it was very hard to get magnification much over lifesize.

 On Olympus you do the firmware on body. If lenses need update they go on body and the same process starts again. Can't download to card, has to be camera directly hooked to computer going thru the much hated Olympus software. That software must be updated if it is out of date.

 Will do the update this weekend and post my thoughts on the improvements. Don't want to do the update wrong. Had a friend "brick" his K-7 doing fw update.

Interesting...who knew?

As far as firmware updates have gone for my Pentax DSLR's the only warning - stated over and over - is to have a fully charged battery. I've read only a very few horror stories of owners who didn't follow direction so to speak and yes, bricked their cameras because of it. Honestly, everyone I've done has been simple.
