Adobe Creative Suite - substational pricing policy change
«

With the availability of Adobe CS6 solutions in 2012, Adobe will no longer offer upgrade pricing to customers who are on older versions of Creative Suite dating more than one version back. Customers on versions of Creative Suite CS4, CS3, CS2 and older will not be eligible for upgrade pricing for CS6 unless they have upgraded to CS5 or CS5.5 before CS6 is released. This is a move to favor their new "Adobe Creative Cloud" pricing system (monthly billing for rented software).

Have no love for Adobe and try to avoid them when possible. Never use thier Raw converter for any of my camera brands. Need to get more comfortable with my ACDsee pro 3 for basic editing.
thanks

I suspect that here are many users still using earlier versions who will never upgrade as their versions still serve them well - also many photographers have switched to Photoshop Elements for their photographic needs.
