It was in a cage at the LBL Nature Center. They alllowed me to lift the lid and lean in with my camera (100mm), but they watched me very carefully.

Thank you Mike. I'm finding from my FB page that few people appreciate the beauty of snakes. I can post a pic of a flower and get 60 "likes," but pictures of snakes get only a hand full. I think the Bible has given them an undeserved bad rap.

i think maybe kids like snakes more than grown-ups ,  before they learn they are supposed to be scary.    but there is that phrase the second part gets left off of most times  :    all creatures great and small.....
