Was tracking this Heron with my...  Undecided humble Tamron 500mm f/8 Mirror lens. Is as if having to handled a fixed aperture on f/8 is not bad enough when Mr Sunshine decided to hide behind the clouds. With a shutter of only 1/125 at ISO800, I was so tempted to up it to 1600 but the very thought of having to live with noise is so...  Embarrassed unbearable, I decided to stick with 800 & panned the cam like crazy.

I avoid shooting at back-lighting & having to climb on a 'short' tree gave me a view-point whereby the ugly horizon is out-of-the-image, a change of perspective helps a-lot in nailing this shot.

ist*D, Tamron 500mm & lots of patience.... >D

WOW, that is a wonderful shot. Good to see that at least sometimes patience is paying off.

Here is my humble offering (certainly doesn't compare to yours...)

This one is my first BIF. The original post has been buried, and it doen't come close to being as good as the two posted before. Taken on the Mississippi River while scouting for eagles.

Swan in flight
Pentax K100D
My wife drew my attention to this swan as I was facing away from the canal, so I just spun round and took the photo, no time to focus or adjust the settings, a lucky grab shot

Dominique,

that's a pretty comprehensive set of BIF's! Maybe we should mention that "the auto focus of the Pentax is too slow to shoot BIFs!" At least that's what many posts over on depressing reviews suggest. Smiley
