Yep, an' that was about 1/6th of the cropped file size and at ISO 1600 to boot. These images are SOOO far above what I was happy with from film days . . .

. . . and 'noisy' or 'busy'? I find most tele lenses are relatively 'busy' because we aren't accustomed to seeing that up close. I consider it relative under the circumstances.

I have considerable experience with this. With a good tripod, you could shoot these at a much lower ISO for much better results. The shutter speed may be low, but it will work fine if you hit the shutter button when they are standing still. Usually, at this time of day, you don't have any wind either.

Nice shots ,the DA 300mm is a great lens and the K-5 is very good at high ISO's
