Hey, guys, I'm back!   Had some knee problems but finally managed a trip
to Botanical gardens.  I was really intrigued by this dragonfly and took a
bunch of shots.  Fortunately he (or she) was cooperative and I got these
two decent shots.  taken with my Sigma 50mm macro, hand held with manual focus.
It was nice and sunny so I got some really high lens speeds. What do you all think.

Nice to hear from you again Freddy. I hope your knee problems are over.

Very nice captures, sharp, detailed and the dragonfly nicely stands out on this blurred background. My only critique would be (hopefully you take it as a constructive critique) that the dragonfly is too centered. Try to "put" the main subject according to the rule of thirds. You do normally get more dynamical captures when the subject is not centered.

Glad to see you're moble again, Freddy. I can relate.
Really good, sharp shots. My only suggestion would be to get closer and fill the frame more with the dragonfly.

Great captures Freddy - looks, I think, like a Twelve-spotted Skimmer (Libellula pulchella)  Cool

They are known to perchon vegetation.

Glad to know the knees are getting better.
