My First Decent Spider Macro
«

This may not be very exciting for some , but for me it's really the first time I have attempted Macro photography somewhat successfully. My wife noticed this guy on the deck while watering the flowers out back.
I tried to do all the things you should do. Immediatley put on the Sigma 105. Got the tripod, locked in F22, manual focus, used a 2 second timer.
The star of the shot (Spider) was most accommodating as well. He sat there munching on a previous catch for about three shots then like a bolt of lightning he dashed down the web and caught another fly for lunch. He quickly killed it, spun his web around it, and then scurried backed up to finish breakfast. All in all an entertaining few minutes.
Here is the sequence.

The background is pretty busy here sorry about that I did not really have time to recompose and move around - but here he is the fresh kill !

Thanks Earl - that spider took about 15 seconds to warp up the fly (should have went to video!!)

Good macros.
Thanks Ron I am pleased (although my previous attemps left so much to be desired ! I usually do hand held on moving insects haha)

I hear ya Mike I have asked my wife not to destroy his web so I can get some more - she is not that impressed so I had to go out front and get rid of some haha.

Thanks Jim I wish he would have come out the siding to allow a closer shot but not bad.
