Any fans of Tamron SP adaptall-2 lens?

I have been recently on a rampage in getting Tamron SP adaptall-2 lens in both zooms and primes. It is mostly zooms as the primes are much harder to find and got bidden up out of my reach. I just lost the bid on a Tamron SP adaptall-2 180mm f/2.5.
My recent zooms that I highly recommend others are as follows:
1. Tamron SP 35-80mm f/2.8-3.8 adaptall-2 (01A)
This is a cute zoom with strength in the 1:2.5 close up. I have not seen a zoom that does close up like a prime or that of a real macro lens
2. Tamron SP 70-210mmm f/3.5 adaptall-2 (19AH)
This is the best zoom when you compare with all the first three versions of Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm zoom from Kiron, Tokina and Komine. It has the best zoom/focus 1-touch zoom ring that I have used. This zoom maybe more difficult to use due to its long length
3. Tamron SP 80-200mm f/2.8 adaptall-2 (30A)
If you like MF and find it too expensive to go to Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8 (non-HSM) or the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. This adaptall-2 lens should be considered for about $250 to $325 for a good copy. It is quite a heavy zoom for 3+ lb.

Some recent close up to show:
out-of-focus on purpose
to see ringed lights from off-focus rendering in f/4.0

Thanks for posting this. Perhaps you could answer a question about the Tamron adaptall lenses. I've seen folks selling them and having no familiarity with them, I don't get it. Are these lenses able to be 'adapted' to 'all' camera? Is that the point, or it the name just a name? I guess it's what makes these so special? Wondering.

The biggest problem is in getting a good and reliable
Tamron adaptall-2 P/K-A adatper
. They usually run about $80 to 125. If a good copy, I will pay about $90. For the cheaper version with Tamron adaptall-2 P/K adapter, you need to use stop-down metering as in manual lenses in K-mount. Some people also attempt with the Tamron Adaptall-2 M42 adapter which give you Av aperture mode if you know how to depress the rear aperture pin with alternations that depresses the aperture/diaphragm governing pin permanently. Both the K and M-42 adapter in adaptall-2 mount range about $15 to $30. I will suggest for $20 as a fair price for a good working copy. To be safe, I will suggest a P/K adapter as initial step into the adaptall-2 lens LBA excuses. The adapter can be a pain in enjoying the adaptall-2 lens, it is quite difficult to push the aperture change on the lens so that I tend to prefer the P/K-A and m42 adapter over the K adapter in adaptall-2 mount.
Tamron adaptall-2 P/K-A adatper
signature should have a P/KA on adapter rear
The black outside square knob on left bottom is for changing aperture on lens, default to f/32/AE (auto-exposure) where one can use aperture dial on body
The silver outside square knob on bottom right (not clear on above picture) is the dismounting knob that is quite difficult to dismount for the 1st time
All short comings can be overcome for the LBA victims, I am the perfect sample.
The nice things about the adaptall-2 lens is that they are all full frame ready (FF) and they can be adapted from one system to another. It is debatable if one will use adaptall-2 lens in Canon and Nikon as those systems are more advance in AF and I chose the adaptall MF lens to make up the lacking in my K20D in AF. Your mileage and reasons will be different than mine. The quality of adaptall-2 lens are great in the MF area if you enjoy MF lens with in-general good build, sharpness and color. I mainly focus my search on Tamron SP adaptall-2 that has the SP signatures and the adaptall-2 mount.
Thanks,
Hin

Interesting idea to pick a lens line that you can take with you if you "change trains at the next station" (decide to switch to another manufacturers body). This almost make you a double agent Hinioman.

Tamron AD2 SP 35-80 f/2.8-3.8
Hinioman....You've touched on a lens I love both for film and digital. IMO it's one of the best lenses I've come across for the price. I understand the original retail price some ??years ago was about $1200. They can be bought for much less now of course, but are becoming rare if you're after a good copy. Yours looks mint. Mine has been well used but still works flawlessly. A credit to the design and build quality.

This thread's been comatose for quite a while. Is there anyone else that's using this highly addictive branch of the LBA tree except me?

Yes and yes.
[ This isn't as cruel as it may appear folks 'cause sooner or later he was bound to discover he could cut the cost of his LBA habit in half
or more!
if he'd just give up reliance on that seductive AF button. ]

Not to worry, L'il Cricket. I'm savin' your first four lenses right here on my Tamron shelf(s).
Which one do you want first? The SP 90 macro (52B) or the SP 35-80 (01A)?
