Gemmipass, Switzerland

Hi

I took today an extended walk over the Gemmipass, a pass connecting Leukerbad in Valais with Kandersteg in Bern here in Switzerland. It is a nice winter wonderland walk on 2400m above sea level. I took this walk already earlier, but it was the first time I took it by the end of December and was surprised to find the sun does not go high enough over the surrounding mountains to have sun on the whole walk. So, walking in the freezing shadow, instead of snow under sunshine photos, I tried to play a bit with the shadows. Hope it works.

Cool shots (sorry couldn't resist).  Brave man to walk in the shadow of a mountain in Winter ! Freezing !!

I used to live in Austria and, skiiing aside, didn't venture up the mountains in Winter too much, but loved driving through them - just gorgeous scenery an arm's length away.

Thank you both for commenting. Yes, walking in the shadow at over 2000m above sea level in the winter is not necessarily a very enjoying moment, but you keep in the eye the next patch in the sun and look forward to it.
