Hi

This weekend ended the 34th International Balloon Festival of Château-d'Oex, Switzerland which I attended several times (photos will follow, but the weather was really not ideal for this edition), but on the way to the festival, I could take some snowy landscapes:

1 Château-d'Oex
645D, FA645 120/4, f/4.5, 1/1000s, 100iso, B&W converted

2 Les Sciernes
645D, FA645 45-85, 45mm, f/5.6, 1/100s, 800iso, through the train's windows

3 Train Montreux - Château-d'Oex
645D, FA645 45-85, 65mm, f/4.5, 1/200s, 200iso

Yep, nice and as is typical with tcom's images, they all have the 'wish I was there too,' appeal. Darn nice.

Thank you for the comments. When I took these photos, especially 2 and 3, I was unusure how these would turn out and if they would work, the light was pretty low, just like the contrast as well. I gave it a try and it worked.

I really like the last shot though I may have cropped more off the left side. all the interest, I see, is on the right side just right of center. Great image. JIM

I'm liking the first for it's excellent composition and point of view but the last one is really cool too because I feel like I'm on the train.

I think #3 would also look good as a vertical crop to include the train  Smiley

Thank you all for the comments. I tried to crop a bit the last one to get more attention on the train:

It becomes a "pleasing" picture when cropped vertically but for me it looses that sense of "being there!" present in the original.

My preference is to retain the present ratio (appx 6:4) and crop by about 10-15 percent from the upper left corner. To me that retains that panoramic looking-out-the-window feeling much better.
