. . .  but more complicated than that 'ain't it' .

Oh, yeah!  Grin Grin

EVERYTHING about photography involves a complex, inverse-reciprocal relationship with every other part.

Except for LBA.  That bears a direct, logarithmic relationship to your wallet. Nothing complicated about that though.

Hey Pacerr..... glad you didn't mention that the whole LBA & CBA  thing get very non linear as you advance into this hobby.   Grin

There are so many online photography calculators these days. I stumbled across this one the other day. It offers several interesting calculations.

I also see that you can get photo apps for many handheld devices. I remember one that I had for my old Palm Pilot. (I have never owned an electronic device that could eat batteries like that Palm Pilot. It was cheaper to throw that device away and go buy something else than suffer the battery cost - and wouldn't you just know that it would not work with rechargeable batteries)

Well, let's just say that before the art kicks in, the technical aspects of photography are all about getting the right exposure for the image. The primary technical things on the camera you have to balance are f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO. To much or too little of any one of them can significantly change the look of the captured image. It's how you as the artist use them. In this case the choices you make with what f-stop you select gives you the ability to decide what's in focus and what's not. It's not really all that hard but remembering it all and using it all when you are shooting is the hard part. Believe me, I always need to think more before I push the trigger (sound of head hitting wall).

This is the most helpful and friendly group on the internet, David, even the guy in the funny hat. Take it a step at a time, experiment and share your questions and results here.
