South Luangwa NP in Emerald Season

I just finished uploading the photos, so I start, I will try to limit my postings to one photo per post, and leave enough time between the series to let enough time for comments, and to avoid having to many photos to load on one single page for the modem users...

It is the rainy season, and it was raining a lot on the first two days.

I left the macro lens at home and tried to make the closeup shots with the DA*300. The DA*300 does of course not replace a true macro lens, but flowers and bugs are not too small in Africa.

This shot is more to give an idea about the height of the grass after the rain

Dominique,
Fascinating photographs - I can see why you like the safaris. The DA*300 and K20D seem to be a great combination.
Keep posting.....

I like it when you make your sojourns. We get to see some really great images. I really like that DA* 300, it's a great lens but I'd rather have a 250-500 f/4 zoom.

Yes, the DA*300 is truly a great lens. A safari with a DA*50-135, DA*200 and DA*300 is certainly requiring more lens swapping than just a Tokina 80-400 I used on my other safaris, but the resulting photos show me that it is the way to go.
Steve: yes, a 250-500/4 zoom would be nice.

The rainy season implies also difficult road crossings. Normally, this road is dry, but now, the water level is too deep to cross by car, we use a boat:
