Until here, the others in the group could not understand why I do carry such a "heavy" equipment while they simply use a much lighter bridge camera with a longer zoom than my DA*60-250. When I then showed them the photo of the Indigo Flycatcher on the back LCD, they saw the difference between a "large", "heavy" camera able to get out great colors and details, while their bridge was not even able to focus in the dim rain forest:

For a change the weather presented us fog instead of rain:

Finally, in the evening, the sky cleared and allowed a beautifull view onto Mt. Kinabalu (4100m above sea level)

Ready for a long thread? We are expecting it! In #9/10 is that a pitcher plant where if a bug falls in it gets eaten? #1 reminds me of things I've seen in Jakarta years ago. These are wonderful shots by the way and I'm not sure if picking favs it important but I do like #14 and 16 as the tree really says a lot about where you were and that alpen glow on the clouds is to die for wow! All these images have a fineness I can't define, very nice. Can't wait for more.

4th April

This morning, we visit another part of the national, "Poring hot springs". The site is located at an altitude of 500m, meaning it is again well 30°C and very high humidity.

20 Canopy Walk

In Costa Rica, the canopy walks are stable and wide enough to allow you to stop and take a few photos, but here, narrow, a lot of people waiting behind you, pretty unstable, no way to stop to take photos.

Ready for more?

5th April

It rained a lot during most part of the night. In the morning, it finally stopped raining. But with all the rain during the night, the walkways inside the forest of Kinabalu NP will be way too muddy and slippery. Instead of the forest, we decide to walk along the road inside the national parc and see what's around.

The animals stay well protected somewhere inside the rainforest. Without some "real" subjects to put in front of the camera, I try to get a closer look at all the plants and flowers, maybe there are some graphical stuff to take or whatever:
