Hello everyone.

I just returned today from a wonderful trip in Namibia.

On this three weeks tour, I took 2 K-7 DSLRs to reduce lens swapping and as lenses the DA*16-50, DA*50-135, DA*200 and DA*300. On the non-safari days, I mostly used the 16-50 on one K-7 and the 300/4 on the other K-7. On the safari days, I used all lenses. 2 DSLRs do just reduce the lens swapping, but does not avoid it completely.

In Namibia, the temperature during the days on this tour climbed easily to 38-40°C in the shadow. It was the perfect conditions to check if the firmware update really solved the problem of the thin hairline I had on one DSLR. Well, after 2400 photos in namibian conditions, I did not see any thin line on my photos. Problem solved.

The equipment was nearly constantly covered by a thin layer of extremely thin dust. During the whole tour, I discovered one single dust particle on the sensor. The built-in sensor cleaning solved the problem.

During my other trips, I seldom got much attention, apart for the fact that I am carrying two DSLRs. On this tour, it was quite different, I have got quite some attention with my two K-7. I was frequently asked by photographers around my which DSLR I am using to make such low shutter noise.

Well, I still need quite some time to sort the photos of the trip. I will put quite some photos into this thread (like I do usually after a trip). In the meantime, I include just a few photos of the trip.

Thank you Jim.

The sorting will take quite some time. After a first sorting, I do still have around 950 good photos. They are not all as good as these, but the selection is hard nevertheless.

Hi Dominque,

Love the photos. Will definately have to check at Namibia as a safari possibility.

Nice to hear that people where taking notice of the K-7. I don't think you could do a better test of its performance in harsh conditions.

Can you post some more photos please once you have had a chance to sort a few out  Smiley

Welcome back Mr Kotter.... I mean Dominique (and bearing visual gifts too). The sorting process is punishment/payment for having such a great time.  Wink

Dominique,

Welcome back and I'm glad that you had a good trip and that all went well.  Cool

It sounds as if the K7's performed flawlessly in the harsh conditions and the first treat of photos are superb.  Cool

I look forward to more treat during the next weeks.  Wink

Very fine shots. I look forward to seeing more. The lone trees were particularly excellent.
