Well, I was interested in the K-x since it was announced, not because of the different colours, but as a small little camera to take around when I do not want to take the K-7.

I went to my usual store today and they had a K-x, as I asked if they do have one without the kit lens, I was surprised: yes, they had a K-x body alone. I could not resist any longer.

To my surprise, the K-x is delivered with a Eneloop charger, 4 eneloop batteries as well as 4 AA lithium batteries.

The K-x is small, light and the build quality quite high.

The whole camera is however well below the K-7 regarding user interface and usability. The grip is a bit too small, the rear LCD screen features a 230.000 pixel resolution, only one wheels to change the setting, pretty loud shutter (compared to K-7) and the viewfinder is not as comfortable.

I could not try the camera in low light so far to see what it delivers in high iso. I just took a few shots outside this morning, but no landscape, the visibility was not good enough. I took the photos in RAW (PEF) and converted them with the default settings of Silkypix. As lens, I used the DA*200 (when clicking on the small photo, you go to the full resolution photo).

Dominique,

The results are impressive and I had a look at one the other day and it would be a good carry around camera. One of the local stores is pushing it which is unusual for them as nearly their entire stock is Nikon and Canon. I don't think the North American version has the Eneloop batteries, etc.

Yes, the K-x delivers quite impressive results, at least so far in relative good conditions. For me, this camera is going to be my carry around camera.

I do not know how the camera is being sold in North America. The eneloop charger and batteries was not inside the package but bundled on top of the camera package.

Nice shots Dominique - the K-x looks like a very capable little camera.

Thank you both for the comments.

From an IQ point of view, the K-x is a fine camera, but the handling is not on the level of the K-7.

Great shots! Love the landscape photos!

Surprised that you pick up another camera...thought the K7 is already very small in size!

Thank you Kho.

To be honest, I am surprised as well. I liked in the shop the small size and light weight, even if the difference to the K-7 is not that big, the K-x is nevertheless smaller. I was also intrigued at the good high iso performance the camera was stated to have and decided to give it a try.

Hi Dominique,

I checked the swan shots, and the details are simply AMAZING!

The shot look great on my screen! I'm not in the market for a small camera, but if Iwas, this would go a long way in helping me decide. Love the Swan, but the landscapes were equally impressive.
Regards!

Dom, how would the k-x rate as a replacement for the K100D.  Like if my K100D dies, god forbid,
would the K-x work as well with the 40mm ltd or Sigma 50mm EX macro.  Also, would the viewfinder
work as well as the K100D.  I would imagine that in a year or two the k-x should be available at a
 pretty reasonable price.
Love your swan shots and the landscapes.  Looks like  a pretty nice camera.  Freddy
