Old Photograph Restoration
«
on:
January 14, 2009, 03:19:18 PM »
To get this new board up and running, I looked through some old photos that I had kicking around for a photo that was begging for help. This photo is typical of the photos many of us wish to restore in the hopes of preserving the past. Old photos suffer from bleaching, fogging, creases, cup rings, pen & ink marks, stains, etc. So if anybody wants to have a go at resurrecting / rescuing this image, by all means show us what can be done. Post your results and thoughts as a reply to the topic.
If anyone has a photo of their own that that they would like advice or assistance with please post it as a new topic to keep the section organized.
Thanks for your support in getting this section underway,
Spyglass

Hi there, my version.
Grayscale>Duotone for Sepia>Noise Reduction>Stamped away stains & cut marks>+Contrast & Hi-light>Unsharp mask.
For B&W copy, just skip the duotone step.

I like the duotone processed one Francis. Funny I was just cleaning out some stuff today and found an old photo of my mom taken over 60 years ago. It was her wedding photo. There are many VERY old photos in a trunk that my mom had. My sister and I have went through them and it is difficult to be sure who the people are in the photos. It is sad.
