No Regret

I spend upwards of 75% of my paid working day behind a camera, editing photos, or looking through microscopes, stereoscopes and digtial microscopes.  But I don't do weddings, events, (other than plant crash work), fashion, landscape, sports, portrait or any other conventional photography. My field is Engineering Failure Analysis.  I have attached a couple of samples of what I do on a daily basis.

This is one of my images on the  Nikon Instruments website. It is a micrograph of tantalum, which is difficult to prepare and image because it is very stable (chemically resistant).

There is an artistic side to this as well with the attached image of a depositional and subsequently eroded surface.

Interesting, Materialsguy. I've been writing about and photographing the outdoor for almost four decades.

I seem to recall another thread on this topic last year but I can't find it now. Anyway, I'm a meteorologist and have been an environmental consultant for the past 35 years.

Ummm professionlay I have done many things ...some with more competence than others  Grin Range from Graveyard attendent ==> Meat Packer. But if you mean what I do for living now then I have been in the IT world since 1986. Last 12 years as an independant consultant - more or less a Database Administrator (Oracle) and ODAR (Other Duties As Required) some network admin, coding, PC trouble shooting - the typical IT kinda things.

I'm developing sensors for oceanography, mostly chemical sensors. At the moment I'm mostly working on getting a profiling mooring going, more instrument platform than sensor development. (At least when I find time between pushing papers to and fro)

Here's my work WEB link.

Hiya!

I've had a varying careers in electronics: servicing and designs. Past experience include working for Sony of Canada, and for an electronics firm that designed & manufactured control equipment for plywood manufacturing, then traffic signal control cabinets and related equipment. I wore many hats at that company for 33 years and then left the "dark side" to become a government worker - I am now a Traffic Signal Technician for the past 6 years for a local city (10 minute commute). My duties vary from design, generating specifications, ordering, testing, installing and maintenance. Ask Spyglass - he knows too well.

Now your dating me. That was a well ago and believe it was a division of Reichhold called Intertech. Could be wrong. I need to check if she is still at our Houston plant. JIM
