Within a dozen miles of my home is the section on the St. Francis River where the National Kayak Trials are held each spring. When the water is right, dozens of kayakers twist their way though the rugged rapids, regardless the temperature or the season. I like to photograph them from various angles/locations and hiked the Silver Mines Trail along the river yesterday. Came across an unusual sight. Kayaking is sort of an extreme sport, but this seems to take it to another level.

I talked to this guy afterword and got a model release. He lives around here and is an experiened and accomplished kayaker. He said the board renewed his adrenelin rush. These shots aren't very good, but I'll be watching this fellow for future opportunities, which short of renews my adrenelin rush.

Wow, a SUP (stand up paddle board) on a white water river. It had to happen I guess. Even though I'm a sea kayaker, I'm not particularly fond of waves. Way cool shots Ron.

Thanks Tim. These shots were taken from above in a relatively calm portion of the shut-ins. I want to see how he negotiates the runs I usually photograph, like this one.

Even some of these guys, with a much lower center of gravity, don't make it.
