The countdown bar on the 645D teaser page has nearly reached the right hand side....
I'm guessing we may see something by the end of the week.

With those clouds racing overhead the 645D looks to be as large as Uluru, (you know, the big red rock in the middle of Australia), so should satisfy people who complain about having not enough grip and small buttons.   Roll Eyes

Saw another item yesterday on this guy. It's 40megapixels and will have two SDHC slots.

I am definately interested in this camera.  Call me crazy. I have been thinking about going to a full frame camera [D700] With this being a medium format, it will be a jump up from a full frame. Starting saving my pennies a couple of months ago so still have close to a year to make any type of change. Nice to see Pentax getting up in the Pro Line again. This will be a big seller in the fashion high end and pro landscapers who still have lenses form the old film 645. Cheers JIM

Hey Jimbo (and others),

I am always shocked at the low price tag that I have seen on many of the lenses for the 645 camera system (craigslist, ebay, etc) I would suggest that if you are condsidering buying a 645 in the future to start buying some lenses now before they become desirable to a larger audience.

As for the memory card slots (at 40mp I am surprised that the new 645 will only has two slots)   Undecided

I think Pentax is moving in the right direction. Forget full frame (35mm). Keep the current sensor size for the exisiting K size bodies, and put the effort  into medium & large format cameras systems. Imagine a 4x5 camera.   Cool

And Jim (a D700??? thats blasphemy - you trader)  Angry   (just kidding)

I know. The problem was Pentax had very little to offer in the higher high cameras, not that I am not happy with the k20 but want to push to the next level. I agree about the 645 lenses and I will be buying a few for sure. [primes mainly] I also agree at 40 mg two slots is needed and that will two 16 k minimum in the cards. This a great news for Pentax and a very smart more. Tim, will you ever forgive me for thinking of the dark side!! Cheers JIM
