K10D Grand Prix edition

PENTAX K10D Grand Prix Edition
(My K10D GP has serial number GP0020)
I have been asked to post a review of the K10D Grand Prix edition.
Some weeks ago, my photo store proposed my to swap one of my K10D against the K10D GP edition. I did not hesitate too long and accepted the deal.
The K10D GP is a fully normal K10D, but delivered directly with firmware 1.30. The main difference apart from that is the body which is slightly brown instead of black, and the writings are gold instead of white:
The other change is that the strap is not the usual black one, but a brown leather strap.
The camera is shipped with this leather strap, several CDs and DVDs, the battery grip (also slightly brown), an add-on to the user-manual which explains the changes in firmware 1.30, and a certificate with the serial number of the limited edition.
Comparison of K10D Limited with normal K10D
Front view - Everything the same except the colour of lettering from White to GOLD. Oh, and also the leather on K10D Limited is brown versus black in normal K10D.
Back view - Camera Grand Prix 2007 wording in GOLD. Very eye catching! Is it REAL GOLD?!
Leather in brown as well.
The gold markings perfectly match the gold of the DA* lenses:
I have tried my best for the product shots, but this is somehow not my cup of tea... Sorry for the quality of the photos.

Great looking camera! Wish I can own one...
With the GOLDEN 16-50mm, they match so very perfectly!
Nice serial number one you have there too!

Yes Kho, nice serial number!
The K10D GP is a very nice camera and the gold markings do perfectly match with the DA* lenses.
I am still wondering how my shop managed to get me a K10D GP... As there are just 5 K10 GP cameras for the swiss market.

You are so lucky! Nice looking!
Did anyone know is in market (of Pentax accessories) some another strap than usual one (black/red) ?
In the (latest) Pentax DSLR lenses-equipment catalog/brochure are 2 pictures with 2 straps.
First one is usual (bleck/red) that come with (ordinary) K10D , coled "Shoulder strap"
...and another one is little bit different (black/white), coled "Neoprene strap".
I am very interested in second one if it is wider then usual one... if is more like that strap witch came with K10D Grand Prix edition.

Dominique,
The Grand Prix Edition certainly looks stylish and we know that the K10D is a superb camera - no wonder you accepted the exchange and such a super serial number.
Well done.

Hello Tcom,
I have just join this club and I have seen a lot of interesting post and you article about K10D really caught my eyes..
It certainly a very attractive camera, but I was just wondering the version that I have seen for sale in Hong Kong does not comes with that certificate like the one you have on the very top picture. Is it only available in certain country only?
mine is number 998 Cheers enjoy!

Hi vws
I think the certificate is expected to be in all K10D GP boxes. My certificate for sure does not come from Pentax Switzerland.

all you need now is that 90th aniversary gitzo tripod
It looks black and brown like the camera
what a combination that would make for a collector
I heard Lewis Hamilton the f1 driver is moving to your country
maybe he will buy it because its a grand prix model

Hi JAZZer,
That's a really nice strap! It looks very much like MATIN strap, maybe PENTAX asked MATIN to make for them.
(Personally I am using MATIN Strap, one of the best strap!)
