Hi all

I have been contemplating buying 1 (or 2) Pentax TR powerpack 2 or 3. I understand both will work on my AF540FGZ flashes. I presume the  TR powerpack 3 replaces the 2 model. Does anyone out there use one or the otehr? Any recommendations?

Also, I heard the SANYO eneloop AA batteries can be used in powerpacks using a C-sized "sleeve" - purchased online @ COSTCO. Has anyone tried these sleeves and the eneloop batteries?

Thanks,
Terry

Sounds like you are using your flash, or plan to be using it, quite a bit Terry.

Terry,

I have been unable to find eneloop batteries in the local stores in Ontario but I have found a couple of dealers, including Henry's, carrying Ansmann 2850 mah units and they, so far, have been superb,

Hi Tim and Mike

Thanks for your replies. I wanted to know if anyone has any experiences using the Pentax TR powerpack 2 or 3? Seeing as Pentax uses a special conenctor on the AF540, I am relucatant to make my own power pack.

Yes, I am planning on using my AF540's a lot more in August - I have two family weddings - no I am not their photographers. I had thought I would provide fill-in pictures for the ones their photographers may not get. I did one wedding a few years ago and the couple was very pleased with the results.

RE: Eneloop batteries - Spyglass got me going on those batteries, as did a collegue in Winnipeg. I bought two packages from COSTCO a few months ago. I use them in my ist-DL and all my flashes. The eneloops hold their charges for a great long time. Whilst with another photo buddy, he mentioned about using the battery sleeves. These sleeves slide over the AA eneloops and substitute C and D type batteries - I heard that COSTCO online sells a package of C and D sleeves

Terry,

Sorry I can't help you with the sleeves.

By the way our Costco in Hamilton doesn't carry the Eneloops, unfortunately. For a single wedding wouldn't a couple of stes of fully charged Eneloops for the AF540?

Thanks Mike

For the weddings, yes pre-charging several eneloop batteries would do the same job. But as a techie as I am, sometimes we need "gadgets" every once and awhile. Ask Spyglass - his basement is full of gadgets. HeHe.

BTW - Each COSTCO has different assortment of products, brands and whatnot. Maybe if you ask the products managers, they may bring the items in for you. I've done this with our COSTCO

Cheerio!
