Pre-charge versus recharge
«

Well, power is on everyones mind and I had a quick search through and couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd post a link to something I've wrote last night.
http://shutter-fug.blogsp...harged-v-pre-charged.html
The subject is pre-charged batteries against standard rechargeable batteries.
I looked at the Kodak 2000maH against the Ansmann 2700mah. The first part looks at the performance straight after a full charge. There are another three sets of both which are charged and waiting pending further testing at two week intervals.
The overall cost of both battery sets are about ten pounds each, so there is no significant difference in price, and they are both advertised as being fit for 1,000 recharges. They are also both NiMH and they both deliver the right number of decent flash pulses according to their maH rating.
Long sotry short is that the 2700 deliver more flashes per charge, so are better if you're around a charging unit or mains supply. If you want batteries that are there when you need them, then the 2000 units are the ones to go for.
I'll update with results as and when I run the extra sets through the mill.

Michelle,
Thanks for the information. I have not seen any pre-charged batteries on this side of the "pond" yet.
After trying several makes of batteries and chargers - there are lots of posts on this forum and other showing comparisons - I ended up with a Sony setup that has been working perfectly for over a year.
http://products.sel.sony..../battery/nimh_charger.php
The charger is small enough to be portable and because of the heat caused by the "quick charge" feature has a substantial cooling fan built in. So far I am very satisfied with the package - I have the charger and four sets of four AA's.
Look forward to seeing the results of your tests.
Mike
