I have a BenQ laptop which has an internal card reader, which I found out on holiday will not read 2Gig sd cards properly (only reads 1gig & won't format) I tried a couple of card readers with no avail  Undecided I just got a sandisk micro mate and its lets me use 2gig card on the laptop it also allows the use of SDHC cards as well

I haven't had problems with 2GB cards, but for the 4GB SDHC, I had to use the SanDisk MicroMate (delivered with the 4GB SDHC card) to read the cards.
