I would like to know if (using the proper hotshoe adaptor) it would be possible to use the onboard flash of the K10D as a fill-in flash and, at the same time to bounce toward the ceiling my old glorious Olympus T32 Flash, set in Auto mode (using its on board light sensor).

I have also read about the potential danger of using old flash units with modern digital SLR.

The reported trigger voltage of the T32 is somewhere between 6-12v.

How about my National PE-250S? which is not in the test list...

I had try it on my Lumix FZ20, and no problem. Anyone test it b4? what is the voltage reading?  Sad

Just be careful, most flashs will work, but after a couple of months your camera flash circuit is fried and you wonder why.  I wouldn't use any flash that I didn'measure its trigger voltage myself.

I just bought a K10D and I have a Sunpak 444D flash with a Canon module that I used on a Canon A1 film slr. Is a module available so I could use my 444D the way you describe for using the Olympus T32? Would the Canon module work with the Hot Shoe Adapter FG and Off Camera Shoe Adapter F?
Any information would be appreciated.
I sent a message to Sunpak several days ago and have not received a reply from them.

I read last month in Popular photography about a thing that fits in the hot shoe of the camera and allows you to put an old flash without any risk of frying your camera hot shoe:

Yes, I saw this too, sounds like a very interesting option.

You can make the Sunpak 444D work with the Pentax, but not TTL(I believe that is what the module is for). The reason is the light reflection off the CCD is too variable to get a good exposure reading, so Pentax (and every other dSLR manufacturere) has eliminated that flash feature.  So it will work, but not with a module.

Your flash will work using its Automatic and Manual settings with the same Pentax adapters as noted above.

I use my old AF280 flash with both my DS and K10D to good effect.
Thanks for the reply. The 444D manual lists a PT-2D module for Pentax (all listed models are older film SLRs)and a STD-1D Standard Interface module for all non-dedicated cameras. I have found the STD-1 module available through Adorama, but nobody seems to have the PT-2D module. The flash body does not seem to have a socket for a connecting cord so I cannot see how the flash will be triggered if I attempt to use the Hot Shoe Adapter FG, (this allows for the onboard flash to pop-up), the Off-Camera Shoe Adapter F, and either the 3 foot 5FP coiled cord or the 9.5 foot 5FPL straight cord as you suggested above. There is a receptacle on the side of the unit, but it seems to be intended for attaching a cable from either an AC adapter or a 510 volt powerpack.

The Wein SSHSHS flash adaptor seems to work great, I have 2 of them and use them with Sunpak 555 handle mount flashes w/ 510v battery packs on my Nikons, have never had a problem and have been using them since they came out.

From a post at DPR Pentax says the K10D can only handle a 6V flash.
