Do we have any Epson P-2500 P-4500 Multimedia Photo Storage Viewer user here?  Wink

Epson has published a new firmware update (Ver.02.01) on the 2006-11-02. Added support for SDHC memory card and also able to read RAW files for the following added DSLR models:

    * Nikon D2Xs/D2X/D2Hs/D200/D80/D70s/D70/D50
    * PENTAX  K100D
    * SONY   α-100
    * Fujifilm S2Pro/S3Pro
    * Canon EOS Kiss Digital X

Firmware download at:

Mac version
http://www2.epson.jp/down...driver/02.01/P4500201.dmg

Windows version
http://www2.epson.jp/down...driver/02.01/P4500201.EXE

Original download page at:
http://www.i-love-epson.c...ownload2/list/P-4500.html

This firmware is only available from Epson Japan, hence no English instruction is available. However, one can still refering to Epson P-5000 instruction manual in English (downloadable from Epson USA website) for the similar firmware update procedures.

Do it at your own risk!!!  Shocked

So there is finally a storage device supporting SDHC, good news. Much better than the Jobo GigaOne...

I have a P2000 which has just been replaced by the P3000 & P5000 in North America. This one of my best purchases and was fantastic in Mexico in November when I could download from my SD card each evening and also from my wife's CF card. I will wait to see what shows up on the Canadian site. I haven't tried a card from my K100D yet and will do so this weekend should be the same as when the cards I have were used in the DS2.

I guess it will transfer the whole content of a memory cards, without taking care about the file types. Does it display the PEF raw datas?

Dominique

I haven't done any RAW to the viewer yet but I will try. Insert a SD card and you have the options to VIEW, DOWNLOAD, DOWNLOAD & ERASE. Choose which option and off we go. You can also build dirctories on the viewer, ie. Mexico 2006, by using the viewer or downloading a directory from the PC. Does wonderful slide shows with background music which you can add although it has some built in. I always format in camera and never use the facility to erase the card. Downloads quick - the battery takes 3 hours to charge in the viewer but it is a lithium iron that just pops out easily and you can get spares. I have never flattened the battery with fairly heavy use in the field and obviously showing off picures. I have hooked it up to the TV to show a slide show. I will let you know about RAW.

Dominique,

Absolutely pouring with rain here, where we would normally be shovelling tons of snow, talk about global warming.

So this gave me a chance to try my Stofen Omnibounce diffuser that came yesterday for my new AF-540FGZ. I took two quick flash shots of my wife, one as JPG and one RAW.

Both downloaded from the card to the Epson 2000 and when you view the thumbnails you see RAW superimposed on the RAW photo. It stores the image with the PEF extension and displays all the correct information in the EXIF file.

That was my first RAW file on the K100D and I am exceptionally pleased - I don't even have to sharpen it after a straight conversion in Photoshop Elements 5.0.  All I have done is resize and lower the jpg quality to get under the 200k limit for posting.

If I am not mistaken, P-2000 does not support SDHC memory card, so does P-4000.

P-2500 and P-4500 are actually Japan only products (Australia does sell P-4500 too for a short period of time). All the internal of P-2500 and P-4500 are same as P-3000 and P-5000, the difference is the screen only. P-4500 is already discontinued, and P-2500 is now for sale only in Japan.

There are still many buyers from USA and Europe of the P-4500 via ebay, hence I thought posting the firmware update here would be useful Smiley Epson Australia does not provide the firmware update at their website.

Thanks Mike for the test. So RAW of the K100D is supported.

I was just on the pages of Epson Switzerland, and I could only see the P-3000 and P-5000, not any single mention if they were supporting SDHC. But the pages of Epson France tells the P-3000 supports SDHC...
