Camera Backpack

I couldn't afford a K5 for Christmas, so to ease my dissapointment, I bought something I really need: a good camera backpack. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, so I don't feel I can give a complete review, but I tought some would be interested in first impressions.
First of all, and most importantly, my medium, Tenba Shootout provides great protection for my gear. sides and bottom are rigid to absorb shocks. It is so well padded and reinforced all around that I believe it could tumble down a flight of stairs without the slightest damage to contents.
It is big enough for two camera systems, one with a long lens and the other with a short lens attached. All the compartments are adjustable with velcro paritions that really hold tightly. I sort of arranged things to make it looks full, but I actually have lots of room for expansion, plus a pounch in the back for a laptop.
The lid to access gear can be zipped open just enough to take the camera out the top, or opened all the way the length, as you see here. The inside of the flap has pouches for filters and such for quick and easy access. A flap in the back zips open to reveal a neat, adjustable velcro system for carrying a tripod of any size. The side pockets each have smaller zippered pouches; one with slotted protectors for memory cards and such; the other is the perfect size for my Optio W80.
They put a lot of thought and quality construction into this thing.
It is heavier than what I was using, but that is to be expected with the solid construction. However, the padded sholder straps are comfortable and a padded belly strap keep it and my belly in place (good for my old back as well). My first trip with it was down to Mina Sauk Falls, which is a steep, rocky and sometimes trecherous decent. Some slipping and tripping is involved and I found the belly strap added greatly to my stability and didn't throw the weight of the pack in the direction of my slip.
My only reservation is the zippers. They seem fine, work smoothly and are fisrly water proof, but I've seen better and know from experience that zippers are the things that wear out first.
I've included a picture taken with my Optio of it opened up. The illustrations on the Tenba website are better if you want to check it out. It wasn't cheap (about $180), but much cheaper than a comparable LowPro.

Nice pack T-man. I remember visiting the Tenba website when I was hunting for a camera bag. I liked their quick side access feature. Their products look well thought out and well built. I inserted a link to your backpack so members could learn more about the product.

Look forward to your thoughts on your new back pack as you become accustomed to it.

I'm quite happy with my Lowepro flipside 400 (which from the look of it, is similar in what you can put in it). I bought it for €80 on a "secondhand market" on the internet !! (equivalent to "ebay").
