Photo Quest - are you up to the challenge????

This is definitely "something old," at least for the US.  Fort Knox, Bucksport, Maine, a four image horizontal HDRI panorama of this amazing brick and stone fort dating to the War of 1812, and often called "the fort that never fired a shot," as the British, while making it to Portland, Maine and setting the entire town ablaze, never made it as far as Bucksport.  But there are many beautiful arches and near artforms in the stairs, brickwork and stonework.  There is a green patina of either lichen or moss on many of the bricks from years of exposure to dampness, and a lot of powdery white mildew, all of which you can see in this shot, stitched together in PTGui and finished in CS2. 

I'm excited to see everyone's entries and so glad that I was forwarded the email alerting me to this cool contest!

Here's my entry. There are a lot of abandon old homes and retail spaces here in Charlotte. Some, like this one pictured, have been left for nature to reclaim.

As this is the first Quest here at PentaxWorld, and seeing as we are in need of participants, if anyone happens to have a worthy photo tucked up their sleeve (or archived and kept for a rainy day) we would allow the submission. So by all means get your entries in PentaxWorld.

One of the goals behind photo contests, challenges, and games, is to get members to pick up their cameras and use them. We learn this hobby by trial and error. You can read all the books your local library has on photography and become technically astute to the principles surrounding this hobby but you will never master or become proficient with a camera until you roll up your shirtsleeves, grab hold of it, and start using it.

We do plan to have many more photo activities here at PentaxWorld. Some will be for fun, some for creativity, and some for the pursuit of excellence. It is our goal to try and offer a little something to everyone. We might not hit the nail on the head every time.... but we do have lots of fingers and the courage to keep swinging the hammer. How many we can deliver depends on participation and response from the membership.
